Give

"Give"

I finally started to tap into some doll parts that I purchased this past summer at the antique show. The body of this angel is a smashed spray can I found on the ground several months ago. The cool and spooky thing about the piece is that the eyes are movable. Depending on what kind of mood you are in, you can either close them or leave them wide open. Sometimes they will slowly open when set in the closed position. That's like an added bonus to the piece!

Abuelita Grace

"Abuelita Grace"

I've been laying low for a little while in regards to blogging and creating art and it's due to family commitments and work. However, I do try to sneak in a project or two. Abuelita Grace is a commissioned piece I did for a fellow New Mexican. She saw my work on Etsy and really liked what I created, so she contacted me. I use to do commissions many, many years ago and I grew very tired of the deadlines. I haven't really done any since then. What was different with this commission is that Christina, the client, let me work at my own pace. Thank you Christina!!!!
I really enjoyed working on this piece with all the wonderful stuff she sent belonging to her beloved grandmother. Abuelita Grace has crochet needles for arms, hand beaded earring for the head, vintage buttons, porcelain doll legs, and a beautiful lace hanky. The doll looks better in person and I hope Christina will enjoy her as much as I did in creating her!

October?

"Mabel"

I can't believe the month of October is almost over!! The last thing I remember is the two shows I had last month and then it gets fuzzy. The first part of the school year is crazy busy!!! Then throw in a couple of birthdays, three holidays and one funeral(out of state), then you wake up and it is X-Mas.
I'll survive like I always do and remember how blessed I am for all the beautiful people in my life!

Anyway, lets talk about Mabel. She is made from an old vintage grater, part of a candle holder and the head is an old metal head I picked up at a doll show a couple of years ago. Sometimes it takes me a couple of years to figure out how to use a certain item I have collected for my art work.
Oh, Yeah! I took on a commission from an individual from my home state of New Mexico. I'm planning on posting WIP for this piece. So, stayed tune!

Art Affaire - Best of Show

Another awesome art show(Art Affaire) with a best of show! I had the pleasure to meet many new faces and a few customers from the Loveland Art Show came to seek out my booth for a few more purchases.
Thank you for coming out and supporting the local artists!

My booth.

The weather started out with very dark and menacing clouds,

and by the time the show opened, we had beautiful blue skies.

The wind started to pick up in the late afternoon to about 30mph.

D-Boy

"D-Boy"

I don't recall doing an assemblage in a wood box. Anyway, I have several people getting after me to use more color in my work, so here it is folks! Some color!!!
