Monthly Challenge #13 - Triptych - Me, Myself & I

Jen Worden's Monthly Challenge #13 is to be a triptych. Required items to found in art work are tape, a word and found object.
I used playing cards that were covered with metal tape. The tape was crinkled before applying to the card. Some copper mesh and wire were used throughout the piece. Old rusted hardware was also used. I took some letter stamps and stamped the words me, myself and I on metal tape and then adhered randomly on board. Background is black burlap fabric over sage colored canvas.

Assemblage -The Bounty

Just finished this piece about a week ago and have him hanging about the house so I can get a feel for his presence. Usually when I create an assemblage, I like to randomly place them throughout the house so I can get a feel if they need anything added or taken off.
Again I used empty gun shell casings for the upper arms and a lense from an old pair of binoculars for the head. I also placed a clay face inside of the lense. Everything else is found objects or old hardware pieces.

Crudely Carved Sculpture Piece

Came across this crudely carved Indian doll I had made about 15-20 yrs ago. I wasn't big into making dolls back then, just experimenting.
He is carved from cedar wood and his hair is that of horse hair. The body and leather loin cloth are painted with acrylic paints. Never got around to finishing the base, maybe one of these days!

Hugo

I had a lot of polymer canes left over from an on-line polymer class I took several months back and decided to use them on this mixed media art doll. The whole upper part of the body is covered with two different designs of hand-made canes.

Maasaw - God of Death

The image in this collagraph is called the God of Death. He was known as a (Hopi) god and images of this figure was found in rock art.

Assembage Doll - Mica

This is a mixed media assemblage that measures 9" high. This doll was made from tin box, wood, clay, wire, & various hardware pieces. A mosaic of clay tiles used on the inside of the tin.

Emerging Young Artist

My daughter had her very first art show a couple of weeks ago and it was really great! There were schools from the tri-state area that took part. Ten students from her school were selected and she was one of them. I am so proud of her!! I think it was more of big deal for me than it was for her. I had my first show as an adult and here she is barely in Kinder and she has her first show. Opening night was packed.
She is very talented and she surprises me with her artistic imagination.

Assemblage - The Patron

This is a mixed media assemblage made from wood, hardware, metal, clay, and tin. The most interesting part of this doll are the arms. Inspiration from a book by
Jane Wynn had me on a scavenger hunt to our local indoor shooting range to collect empty bullet casings. I wasn't sure what I was going to find, but it was well worth the trip. I used the casings on the upper part of the arms. Her arms are also moveable. I enjoy the challenge of creating something that has moving parts.
Patina was used throughout the doll.
