Art Affaire - Best of Show

 

Another awesome art show(Art Affaire) with a best of show! I had the pleasure to meet many new faces and a few customers from the Loveland Art Show came to seek out my booth for a few more purchases.

The weather started out with very dark and menacing clouds,

 

 

 and by the time the show opened, we had beautiful blue skies. 

 

 

The wind started to pick up in the late afternoon to about 30mph.

I don't recall doing an assemblage in a wood box. Anyway, I have several people getting after me to use more color in my work, so here it is folks! Some color!!!

Loveland Art Show - Best of Show!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I was very honored to be selected Best of Show at the 16th Annual Loveland Art Show this past weekend. Pretty awesome to be selected.

 

 

 

The weather was absolutely beautiful!

 

 

 

The attendance was great.

 

 

 

I only do a few local art shows and stopped doing shows out of town due to commitments at home that take priority.

Wire and Fiber Co-existing

 

It's been a while since my last blog entry, so I thought I would slow down and take some time to post my WIP.

 
Quilting Arts Magazine published a really interesting article about fiber artist Diane Savona. She produces salvaged textiles that are just amazing. She incorporates found objects in the most interesting way into her quilts.

 

After reading the article and drooling over her work, I thought why can't I use wire with quilting?! And so, the playing begins. 

I should have a completed piece with wire and fiber to share with you in the next few weeks.

I do try to get an assemblage piece done here and there.

I found these great 1.5"x1.5"x.25" vintage wooden blocks. I really like how thin they are! The legs are white wooden tees used for golfing. 

Imbedded Pieces Revealed

Altered doll heads with Apoxie Sculpt.

A few posts back, I posed  a question if anyone knew what these embedded pieces were.

Looking at them upclose will reveal that they are small BB's.

I used tacks from the hardware store and embedded them into the Apoxie Sculpt.

This head has texture from a rubber stamp or some type of tool.

Apoxie Sculpt is a really wonderful material to use. It comes in two parts and when combined you have a cetain amount of time on which to use before it starts to set, and it cures as hard as a rock!
