Art Doll Mel

Art doll Mel is coming along very slowly.  She is almost complete and I should be ready to work on several other dolls similar in design. I hadn't worked with wire weaving for a while and I really did miss it. I'm experimenting with half wire dresses instead of the full dress all the way around the figure. The materials underneath the wire skirt are paper and cotton fabric. Topped with vintage lace.

I took a ceramic class this past fall and these two busts are the fruits of my labor. I have several more that I will post later. The bust on the left had its holes glazed accidentally but over overall I was pleased with the results and hopefully I'm able to work in some time to take another class this coming spring.

Assemblage Art Doll Mary Lou

Was in a very creative mood last week and came up with four new assemblage art dolls that have a bit a twist to them. The bottom wire is one of many bed springs I scored at the antique show last summer. My sister gave me a stack of crazy quilt squares and I used one for the skirt. The squares with the embroidered stitching is just amazing work. I'll have to post and share some of my treasures.
