On-Line Plaster Studio

I've been inactive on my blog for a while due to my return to the work force. The company that layed me off several years ago came knocking on my door earlier this month looking to rehire me, so how can one say no to a job offer! It's been a bit of a challenge to restructure my life around a job and getting the kids taken care of as well. I am a truss designer and have been for well over 12 years. I really like what I do and I am glad to be back!
Now all need to do is start creating art again! I have been, but very slowly.
Hopefully to jump start the creative flow, I am in the middle of an on-line Plaster Class hosted by Stephanie Lee and Judy Wise. There is so much info. to take in and I am behind, but they have generously given us over a month past the last class to revisit blog site.
I hope to have something created from this class to post this coming week!

COngrats on the job rehire. Hope it works out well for you. Good to hear you are at least doing something creative. No matter how slow it is still good. I too am working slowly on some very personal pieces. I decided I needed time to explore.

Congratulations Carla!Your job sounds really interesting and I'm glad you got it back. Must be in the air, though, the slowness of getting back into the groove of creating. I'm there too, but I'm hoping now that the end of June is here and summer vaca is officially underway for the kids, that the dam will break and I won't be able to keep up with my ideas in another week or two. I wish the same for you and good luck with your online class. Can't wait to see the end result!

Cody - Exploration is always a good thing no matter how small!

missy - Thanks! Hopefully I can get something done before the class ends next week!

Rebeca - Thank you!

paula - Thanks for compliment, but far from a brainiac!! How about just crazy!

Lynda - I've been peaking at your awesome fabric dying going on in your part of the world! Very cool! As for the class, everything in the book is covered and more. I always seem to learn better when I can actually see someone doing the technique from beginning to end. They have done a really good job with the class. Quite a bit of people are signed up for the class this time around!

ArtMuseDog & Carol - Thanks! The only thing I hate is not answering that call at the moment it calls me!
As for a truss designer, I design roof systems for residential and commericial buildings. Sometimes there are some floor designing. I kind of fell into this field after I had a falling out with the Art Dept at the Univ. I was attending yrs. ago. So, I changed my major to construction management and the rest is history.
