Joan of Arc

Joan of Arc was a French saint (1412-1431) who lived in France during the time England waged war against France which lasted a hundred years. When all seemed lost for France, God revived the spirit of France through Joan of Arc.

She was the age of thirteen when she first heard the Voices of St Michael, St Catherine and St Margaret.

At the age of 16, the Voices told Joan to go to the King of France so that she could help him reconquer his kingdom. She did help him to recover his land and his people.

Joan remained with the army and was eventually captured.

During her trial, her most serious crime was her claim of direct inspiration from God. She was found guilty of heresy and burned at the stake.

Minuteman

He was finally attached to his base last night and he is standing firm! The doll is attached to an old cocoanut grater.

The Minutemen were Colonial Soldiers during the American Revolution.

Wire and Paper Meet

Several months back I had received a book titled "Making Connections" by Susan LenarKazmer, and this turned out to be a nice book to have. It shows many techniques for cold joins and this book is where I had my inspiration for applying paper to a wire sculpture.
The paper pieces I am using are from many of my collagraph prints that didn't print quite right.
The shapes were cut out and then the edges were burned to a point where the piece fit into designated spot. Holes were punched and assorted color of eyelets were used. Jump rings are used to attach the paper to the wire sculpture. I originally tried to use black wire instead of jump rings, but that was too much of a hassle. I would probably use wire if I were using another material other than paper.

WIP Minuteman

Here's my man standing a whole 7.5" tall. He has wire wrapped arms, ceramic (arms, legs and head) and hand sewn leather breeches. My next task is attach him to his display board. I tossed around the idea of just placing a loop on his back and leave him to hang solo as a doll, but he looks pretty good with his display board. His body is an old wooden hollow container, and I'm trying to figure ways to attach him to his display board without damaging the container.

What is going on!

I had started out innocently and then................

I came out with this! I've been having a few trying days and think my emotions are starting to come out and they are looking a little scary!! I don't know if this is going to stay as it is or continue to evolve.
That definitely is not love in her eyes!

W.I.P.

Upclose view of some work in progress.

Is that love is her eyes or a cry for help?
