COLLAGRAPH PRINT


Spent a good part of Saturday in the print studio. I had some success with a couple of prints and this was not one of them. I actually like the plate better than the print. Hopefully I will find the time to go back to the studio to run more prints with this plate and if not I could always wait for this one to dry and frame it.
Before heading out to the studio to print I pre-soaked my paper and was ready to go when I arrived there. Some papers will soak as long as an hour.
It can be a tedious process with paper cutting, paper soaking, setting up your inks, set up for paper registration, gauge the print press, run a test to make sure pressure on the press is right, ink up your plate and then print!!!
But in the end it is all worth the work!

ROCK ART I

This collagraph print was done first in inks of red, yellow and blue. Then I got ambitious and continued printing in blue/black. Actually, the blue/black print was printed with two different collagraphs.
The beauty of collagraphs is that you don't really know what you are going to get until you actually print it and then it continues to evolve as you add colors.
It's interesting to see the two totally different moods each print reflects.
The previous mixed-media piece on fabric was the inspiration for this print.

Collage Art Journal #3

My fascination with rock art continues. This collage is an inspiration for a collagraph print I have in mind to create.
Materials used in this piece are leather, cording, wire, floss, collagraph, fur, cotton cloth, and wire mesh.

Collage Art Piece (Art Journal #1)

Collaborative piece with my five year old daughter. She created the drawing and I created the collage. Her original picture is a family portrait and I focused on her and her sister.
Materials used are leather, cotton fabrics, netting, horse hair, wax and threads.

My First ATC

This is my very first attempt at an ATC and it was fun. I usually work with natural materials such as leather, furs, feathers, bone beads, & sinew. So, these are the materials used to create the card.
My interests right now are studying rock art and so I used concentric circles in my design.
