Feedback Please!

This is Lucy and she is the sister to Claire who was posted yesterday on the blog. I wasn't sure how I felt about Lucy having hair, so I posted her with and without hair. Would love to have some feedback from you on whether the hair works or not?! The hair is black horse hair that is wrapped with a wire coil.

I need to trim the hair on left side of her head to match the right.

Wow - Lucy is wonderful, Carla. She works both ways, from my point of view. But I love the special touch with the hair. It adds a bit of lightness that I find very appealing.

My vote is for hair, on this doll it really works.

Beautiful piece. I think she needs something on her head, but the horse hair is a bit out of place. I think maybe just the wire coil - it seems to suit her. Could even be a bit madder?

Here's my take ... firstly, I like both ways ... w/out the hair she looks more "art" doll and WITH hair she looks more "doll" doll. I guess it depends on which way you want to take her. :)

I prefer her without the hair, I don't know if it is the hair itself, or if it is how it sort of "pulls" the top down. Maybe something that doesn't sweep down? I LOVE the fabric for the skirt though, I like that touch very much.

i'm on the side of having hair. i like the coil holding the hair. like a crown or braids across the crown of the head ala Frida.

I like her better without the hair but I thought the other suggestion of leaving just the coil would really work! I think it's the angle of the hair. It makes my eye want to look away to the sides instead of down at the body.

Your creations are always wonderful, hair, coils,no hair they all work, a new direction maybe.

Believe in your work, it is amazing....

THANK YOU so much for the feedback!!! You make a great critique group. There were some really good ideas and I think I'm make more wooden doll with all the suggetions posted just to see how they pan out.
My main concern is not to make a figure look too cute or like a "doll" as Jen commented.
There's nothing wrong with a "doll" look, just not in my work.
